What I Found
Carry it, then open it flat
I have used NEDRELOW’s MacBook and iPad sleeves for years, so the iPhone Duo version caught my attention. This Magic Sleeve takes the same wrap-around idea and makes it phone-sized. In the video, I put the three together before trying the new one with the Duo.
I chose charcoal wool on the outside and black microfiber inside. The sleeve opens flat instead of being a fixed pocket. I set the closed phone inside, bring the material around it, and close the wrap. Magnets hold it together; opening it back up gives me access to the phone.
At a desk, that same sleeve becomes a pad. I can set the Duo down and unfold the screen without putting it directly on the tabletop. That is the useful idea for me to try: something to carry the phone in and somewhere to put it when I sit down.
My practical tip is to check a sleeve with the case you actually use. Check the fit, then make sure taking the phone out feels easy. A quick fit check with your everyday combination is more useful than judging the sleeve with a bare phone alone.
This is the first look at the Duo version. My experience with the larger sleeves is why I wanted to try it; I still need time with this one to see how it works for me.
Disclosure: NEDRELOW supplied this sleeve for review.
What this video covers
- The phone sleeve beside my MacBook and iPad sleeves
- Charcoal wool outside and black microfiber inside
- Wrapping the closed Duo and opening the magnetic closure
- Using the open sleeve as a desk pad
- Checking fit and easy removal with your everyday case
The short version
The Magic Sleeve wraps around the closed Duo for carrying, then opens into a pad when I sit down. That is the appeal I am trying here. Check the fit with your actual case and make sure you can remove the phone comfortably before deciding whether a sleeve suits your routine.
