Project: Apt-get Office
If it was only as easy as apt-get office to update my office. It has been about 8 years with my current office setup. I must say it has held up very well over the years but the need for a new desktop surface and some fresh paint is well over due
Project: Objectives
- Replace Desktops
- Raise Desk 2-inches
- replace shelf under wall mounted servers to match new desktops
- Move wires from shelf to corner and hide.
- Patch wholes were needed
- Touch up paint were needed
- Mount 2 monitors to wall by articulating arms
- Run monitor wires in wall from mount to under desk.
- Move corner shelf a few inches higher.
Step 1. Clear out room while still leaving internet for the rest of the house. Remove desktop from frame and pictures and shelves from walls.
Step 2. Reconfigure desk for new desktop dimensions. Desk will be 3 parts
Step 3. Patch all wholes in walls. Some holes are big and will require a few runs. Using some Pink plaster that turns white when its dry.
Step 4. (Paint) Ran into a snag here the plan was just to touch up but seems paint i bought is not the same a little greener then whats currently on the walls. I will be resorting to painting the whole room. Some extra work here not planed but 10 years later i feel its due either way. Will start taping and cutting in paint in the corners of the trim and doors.
Step 5. Moved brace for corner shelf up a few inches and ran a coat of paint over it
Step 6. Relocating wire run from middle of shelf to the corner. I decided to use a 2" peace of ABS plastic pipe for this at 40" long i drilled 2x 2" holes in it and screwed it to the wall. I have run some sandpaper over the pipe so the paint will stick better to it. applied 1 layer of paint to pipe.
