Comixology: for those who believed that things would not change

It's a sad day, for those who believed that things would not change after Amazons acquisition of Comixology they couldn't be more wrong.

Just under two weeks, Amazon has released a new Comixology iOS app. It would seem Amazon wants to limit how people buy their comics by only processing purchase through their website. However, you are able to browse and download free comics within the app. On the other hand, if you intend on purchasing a comic you will want to add it to your wish list. This way you can purchase it later through their website.

It's not to tuff to speculate on why Amazon has done this. Since Apple does take 30% off the top of in-app purchases. This does take away the whole comic on demand feeling. People may find it as incontinence and may push people in the direction of other comic apps like Marvels and DC. However, if Amazon is in a position to bring the prices down and undercut the competition it could disrupt the market a bit.

On a side note, Amazon is providing a peace offering in the form of a $5 credit to anyone who has ever purchased something through Comixology.
