CHARGING SOUNDS / IPHONE

Make charging
sound like you.

Your recordings. Your sound effects. Your little recharge ritual.

Choose what your iPhone plays when you plug in, unplug, or reach a battery milestone. Start with your own audio, or try our optional voice pack.

Free · iOS 27 · Five triggers included · Early release

YOUR AUDIO → SHARED PLAYER → YOUR CHARGING MOMENTSSee how it works ↓

01 / CHOOSE YOUR START

Make it yours.

The player is the same. You choose the sounds.

Your audio. Ready to install.

Add at least one M4A clip to each of the six moments. The battery level selects the moment. Multiple clips offer alternate phrases within that same moment.

◈ Your audio stays in this browser. Nothing is uploaded or saved by this page.

Choose quiet Focus modes

Enter one exact Focus name per line, as it appears on your phone. Matching ignores capitalization. Leave the list blank to allow all Focus modes.

Choose M4A clips for all six moments to begin.

Use actual .m4a audio. Export or convert your recording first—changing a filename extension does not convert it. Up to 20 MB per clip and 50 MB in total. Your kit includes seven shortcuts: the player, tester, and five charging triggers, plus folders, Focus settings, and instructions.

02 / THREE SIMPLE PARTS

From file to sound.

Seven shortcuts. Five included triggers. One shared player.

01

Put the sounds in place.

Download and unzip your kit in Files. Move Charging-Sound-Pack-Library into iCloud Drive → Shortcuts. Keep the folder name and its structure.

Choose Keep Downloaded where available, and open settings.json once to confirm it is on the device. This helps avoid a cloud-only file error.

Your own kit contains only the clips you chose. The empty starter needs at least one M4A in each of its six event folders before you enable all five triggers.

Add the player. Try a cue.

Open Play Charging Cue.shortcut from the kit and add it to Shortcuts. Then add Test Charging Sounds.shortcut and the five trigger shortcuts: Charging Connected, Charging Disconnected, Charging at 50 Percent, Charging at 80 Percent, and Charging Fully Charged. Keep the names; the other shortcuts call the player by name.

Run Test Charging Sounds and choose an event containing your audio. For Plug in, use 02-normal-connection. Review and allow the file-access and shortcut-running permissions this kit needs.

If a Run Shortcut action is unselected, choose Play Charging Cue once. Don't test an empty event folder. You can move all seven shortcuts into a Charging Sounds folder in the app.

Turn on all five triggers.

iOS imports the included automation turned off. In Shortcuts, go back to Library → Automation. Enable Charging Connected, Charging Disconnected, Charging at 50 Percent, Charging at 80 Percent, and Charging Fully Charged. Their triggers are included; you do not build them yourself.

With power connected, run each of the five trigger shortcuts once and allow it to run the player if asked. These manual runs test their sound routes; they do not wait for the battery threshold. Then unplug and reconnect your cable, or lift your phone off its powered MagSafe charger and place it back. You should hear a Plug in clip, unless your current Focus is excluded.

Only enable one plug-in route. If you made one with the old kit, turn that off first to avoid double cues. Connecting below 20% selects the low-battery cue; at 20% or more it selects the normal cue. Reaching 50%, 80%, or 100% selects that level’s cue only while connected to power. Unplugging selects the disconnect cue. Every route checks the same Focus exclusions.

03 / LEAVE ROOM FOR QUIET

Sounds on your terms.

Your kit can skip new cues in Sleep, Do Not Disturb, or any Focus modes you list. Try the Sleep example in the demo above to see the idea.

Use your phone's exact Focus names, including localized names. This filter doesn't stop audio already playing, mute Apple's own charging sound, or queue sounds for later.

THE USEFUL DETAILS

A little more help.

Which sound plays when?

The battery level determines the sound group. Connecting below 20% uses the low-battery group; otherwise it uses the normal connection group. The included equals 50%, 80%, and 100% triggers first check that power is connected. Unplugging uses the disconnect group. Random selection only chooses among clips inside the correct group. Plugging in at 80% does not replay every earlier milestone.

Replace or add your own audio

Add M4A clips inside the matching event folder under packs / my-sounds / v1. One clip is enough; multiple clips give the player a random choice. Keep only playable audio inside event folders—no notes, images, or nested folders.

You can also replace the M4As in the optional Retro AI pack. Keep the event folder names. To add a separate pack, put it alongside the existing pack and update active_pack_id and active_release in settings.json. Your automations still call the same player.

Requirements and test status

This early release targets iOS 27 Shortcuts on iPhone, with iCloud Drive and a comfortable media volume. Native boundary tests passed below 20% and at 20% or above. On the Duo, manual 50%, 80%, and full-charge runs selected their matching audio; unplugged milestone playback was skipped. The upgraded connection and disconnect triggers passed a physical cable test with one cue each. Sleep and Do Not Disturb stopped manual connection playback.

Real battery-threshold validation is still in progress. Actual battery crossings at 50%, 80%, and 100%, the standalone locked playback, and MagSafe remain unverified. These manual tests do not prove threshold-trigger delivery. A complete clean-phone installation has not been tested.

Does MagSafe work?

The included Charger trigger supports wired and wireless charging, according to Apple’s trigger guide. Use the same Charging Connected shortcut. Our physical test used a cable; MagSafe has not been independently tested for this kit.

Already have the old kit?

Back up and keep your existing audio and settings. Download the new kit and import the five trigger shortcuts. Replace Charging Connected when asked, then disable any renamed old copies in Library → Automation; iOS may preserve an older copy with “2” in its name. Enable only one route for each event. Keep your existing player and tester if they work, and check that all six sound folders contain audio.

If a cue doesn't play

First check Library → Automation: all five charging switches must be on. Run Charging Connected manually once for permissions. Then check media volume, audio output, downloaded iCloud files, Focus exclusions, and the exact Text input. With iPhone Mirroring active, audio may come from your Mac. Make sure that event folder contains M4A audio. Run Test Charging Sounds first. The player does not change volume or create an AI-service connection.

To remove the kit, delete its automations first, then the seven shortcuts and its iCloud folder. Keep a copy of your custom sounds and settings if you want them later.
